Goats on the roof is quite a long drive for us to get to as it’s pretty much in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by stunning scenery – including the Fontburn reservoir. We’ve been twice now and will certainly be going back. Goats on the roof actually does have goats on the roof. They get up and down by a ladder on the side of the building. I think that’s the main attraction really, for novelty value. The building is purpose built, all out of wood with a ramp for buggies and wheelchairs, or stairs if you’d prefer. There’s plenty of parking spaces

Willi’s Coffee House, Clayton Road, Jesmond
Willi’s Coffee House is not far from the centre of Jesmond and about fifteen minutes walk from the centre of Newcastle.
Willi’s is a great coffee shop: wooden, shabby, comfortable and warm. It isn’t huge. It offers take out and eat in options and is a bit pricy as coffee shops go – but worth every penny.
Willi’s does a great selection of fresh salads and sandwiches, jacket potatoes and homemade soup. It also does breakfasts all day, and delivers platters and buffets. There is a children’s menu which includes things like pizza, pasta, chips and cheese on toast

Bluewater, Kent (ok, it isn’t London, but close enough…)
I didn’t really discover the genius of Bluewater until after I had Jack. There’s no denying it has a certain reputation garnered through stories like the one about banning hoodies, which doesn’t exactly work in its favour. After a one off visit in my pre-baby days, I have to admit I couldn’t really see the attraction since the majority of the outlets are standard high street offerings. Why would a girl-about-town head to Bluewater when she could go to Oxford Street, Bond Street or Knightsbridge for a retail fix
